Shaun Pettigrew is a Film Director, Cinematographer & Photographer, making film and content for the South East Asia & Oceania region’s Advertising, Film and TV Industries.
He has a unique documentary and interviewing style of brand storytelling, capturing natural intimate & cinematically beautiful stories about real inspirational people and there’re uniqueness in our communities. His ability in creating effective messages have kept him at the top of his game for clients such as Panadol GSK, IBM Global and Toyota Cars.
Recognition for his story-telling skills, cinematography & photography work includes New Zealand Film Awards, Vienna Short Film Festival; Gold, Silver and Merits at Cannes, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, New York, CCA and Spikes Advertising Award Shows.
Personal work and an interest in music documentary making, lead to the production of a short film on a music project called Riders on the Storm: The Doors Concerto, which won first prize at the Vienna Short Film Festival in 2002, with virtuoso violinist Nigel Kennedy, arranged by Jaz Coleman and performed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra.
His first full length feature film called The Death and Resurrection Show, a music documentary on UK band ‘Killing Joke’, was produced over a 12 year period & purchased by the Sundance TV Channel for a global deal, after playing across major international film festivals and special sold out screenings with the British and Dutch Film Institute Festivals in 2015. Uncut Magazine rated it 9 out of 10, saying "Shaun Pettigrew's film mixes outlandish anecdotes, arcane philosophy and blistering music". The film is considered to be one of the top 50 music documentaries today and has been described by Louder than War Magazine, as stunning in its intensity… an outstanding musical biography.
Publications to-date include AC Publishing, the International Photography Awards, Wire magazine, Conde Nast publications, The UK Sunday Times, UK Guardian, D&AD Book, Shots Magazine, Communication Arts and Luerzer’s International Archive’s top 200 Photographers Worldwide.
